This research line has been priority in the Aquaculture Research Group (GIA) from its foundation. The main objective of this line is to improve the survival and growth of several larval species (Sparus aurata, Dicentrarchus labrax, Pagrus pagrus, among others), as well as to improve the development of live prey cultures (rotifer, Artemia) and microalgae. In order to study the nutritional requirements during the larval phase, specific enrichments and microdiets are formulated in the facilities, which include a processing lab and several rooms with tanks of different volumes to undertake larval rearing experiment both at intensive, semi-intensive and extensive level. All research activities are financed through regional, national and European research projects, including collaborations with several European research institutions and private companies.
